What are Biometric Locks?
Most people today use a standard electric or mechanical lock, where you open it with a pass card or code you punch into a keypad, or with a key.
A biometric lock is a security lock that uses a fingerprint or retinal scan or other biological sample as its "key" to open the door. This type of lock seems very high-tech and futuristic, but it's used more than you may realize and offers many advantages.
One advantage is that it's often more difficult to break biometric locks than any other type of lock. You can easily copy a key or a pass card but it's difficult to falsify a fingerprint or palm print or a retinal scan. This also ensures that the person that should be gaining entrance to a room is the person actually entering; keys and cards can be lost or given away, and codes can be easily stolen.
A biometric lock is not as expensive as you may imagine although they do cost more than most other locks, and you need to program them accordingly.
Their cost is often well worth the price when you realize the amount of security you're given and how it can help your business. Banks, check cashing locations, casinos, and places that hold large sums of cash often use biometric locks, as do buildings that hold very important papers and other valuable items.
A security lock system is an investment in the security of your business and your inventory and can offer you a type of protection that cannot be found with standard mechanical or electronic locks today.
